Welcome to the
Job Winslow Chapter, one of 52 DAR of Michigan chapters, is located in Traverse
City, The Cherry Capital of the World! Hence, our new chapter logo. Our
membership, currently over 110 strong, is spread throughout Grand Traverse,
Leelanau, Benzie, Antrim and Kalkaska counties. Our meetings usually are held on
the third Saturday of the month, April through November, at 11:00. Please see
our meeting schedule under
this web site.
members enthusiastically embrace the education, patriotic endeavor, and
historical preservation objectives of the National Society. 2015 thus far has
been a busy and eventful time for our chapter. The NSDAR is celebrating 125
years of service to America. We are honoring this Commemoration by having a
special Anniversary Party during our chapter meeting in October. This year also
marks the 50th Year Commemoration of the Vietnam War. Our chapter, along with
all other chapters in the state of Michigan have partnered with the Department
of Defense to Commemorate the Veterans of the Vietnam War. This summer the Job
Winslow Daughters walked in the Cherry Festival Parades in Traverse City
carrying the Vietnam War Commemoration flag and passed out Commemoration buttons
to Vietnam Veterans. We are also planning a special event in early December of
this year, where we will recognize Vietnam Veterans by honoring them with a
gathering and presenting special Commemoration certificates and lapel pins.
The Job Winslow
Chapter has helpful members who host genealogical workshops in the surrounding
communities and would enjoy and welcome helping prospective members with
researching their ancestors. Guests are always welcome to our chapter meetings.
